Sahiwal Eye Camp 2019
- 26, 27 & 28 October 2019
- Al-Bilal Marriage Lawn, Sahiwal, Pakistan
Following the success of our first Sahiwal camp in October 2018, where doctors carried out 326 surgeries, we returned for another three days of free eye care. Around 3,000 people came to the camp seeking treatment for preventable blindness and other eye conditions.

The patient journey
From the gate to clear sight.
Every person who came to the camp followed the same five stages — and every one of them was free.
Stage 01
Venue & facilities
The camp was held at a central location in Sahiwal. The site and its essential facilities were provided entirely free of charge by a private donor.
- Volunteers and trustees prepared the site in advance
- The same team handled the clean-up afterwards
Stage 02
Registration
Every visitor was greeted and registered by local volunteers, who recorded each patient’s name, address and age.
- Forms passed to the doctors' administrative staff
- Wheelchairs available for those who needed them
Stage 03
Screening & checks
Qualified doctors and their staff carried out thorough health checks before any decision about surgery was made.
- Detailed eye examinations
- Blood glucose checks
- A review of each patient's medical history
- Medicines and eye drops given free of charge
Stage 04
Surgery & aftercare
Patients who met the clinical criteria had cataract operations, performed by fully qualified doctors in a safe, sterile theatre built for the camp.
- Operations carried out by qualified medical professionals
- Structured follow-up sessions to monitor healing
Stage 05
Food & water
With large crowds and long waits, we made sure no one went without. Free food and water was provided to every patient and everyone accompanying them, throughout all three days.
- Meals cooked on site
- Served to patients and their families alike

How it was funded
Paid for entirely by public generosity.
The 2019 camp was funded through public charitable donations. Under our 100% donation policy, every penny went to the camp’s operations, medical supplies and patients — administrative costs were covered independently.
